Emma Scialfa - Choreographer/Producer/President of MotoMimetico She begins her dance training by studying with the Balletto Statale in Monaco and with the Peter Goss Centre de Danse Contemporaine in Paris. Throughout her dancing career she has been the recipient of several awards. She has won first place for best choreography in Citta' di Enna competition and first place for best interpretation at the Concours Pix Volinine in Paris. For 10 years, Scialfa has worked with the Ballet Thèatre l’Ensemble of Micha Van Hoeche performing in the most prestigious Italian theaters such as Teatro Reggio di Parma, La Scala in Milan and the Piccolo di Milano, Teatro Stabile di Catania, Teatro Massimo di Palermo. She has also performed in exhibitions and international theaters such as the Festival di Teatro di Bogotà, Teatro de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, the Ravenna Festival, Taormina Arte, the Spoleto Festival and the Festival Internazionale di Teatro in Sitges. She has taught contemporary dance at the Teatro Verdi di Pisa, the Università di Catania, the Centro Culture Contemporanee Zo di Catania, Modem Studio atelier della Compagnia Zappalà danza and for several internships and workshops nationwide. In 1998 she founds MotoMimetico, a theater-dance company for which she created all the choreographies presented at the al Festival di In teatro - Polverigi and for X Edizione of the Biennale dei Giovani Artisti di Sarajevo. In 2002, in cooperation with the musician and composer Tommaso Marletta, Scialfa founds Majaze', an association with headquarters in Catania, for the exchange of arts and cultures and for the development, the research and the experimentation of performing arts. She leads Majaze' creating opportunities for cooperation with different associations and for participation in several projects within Europe (www.majaze.it). Majaze' is home to the MotoMimetico company, its propelling force and soul, (where Scialfa is a permanent instructor). Scialfa's other projects include: the Primo Festival per la città di Catania di Video-danza FilmFest, sponsored by the Regione Sicilia, with contributions from the Provincia and Comune of Catania, and in partnership with Dance on Screen of London, with the Universita' di Catania and the Catania Academy of Fine Arts; the contemporary dance exhibitions Reaction and Altroquando both sponsored by the Provincia di Catania and in co-production with MotoMimetico. Emma Scialfa has produced, for Majaze', the feature film Meridiano Perduto of the roman based director Claudio Fausti, sponsored by Regione Sicilia CineSicilia - Film Commission She has assisted the Maestro Henning Brockaus in choreographing the grand opera by V. Bellini 'Beatrice di Tenda', created for the Fondazione Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania. She has also choreographed Verdi's Traviata for the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini of Jesi, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Sferisterio di Macerata and the Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Sociale di Como and for the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini di Jesi and for Il Rigoletto at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
